There are many people who don’t know what a Member of Parliament (MP) can do for them. To give you an idea of how I can help as your State MP, here are some examples of local residents who have recently made contact.

Represent you in NSW Parliament
I was approached by a local nurse who was concerned with the conditions at Manly Hospital, particularly for maternity patients. Her concerns included the quality of food patients were receiving and the general poor condition in parts of the maternity unit. I raised these issues in Parliament and tendered a Private Members Statement on her behalf.

Take your problem to the appropriate Minister
A resident sought my help after she was fined for driving in Lake Macquarie when she could prove she was in Balgowlah that day. She had written to the State Debt Recovery Office to dispute the fine but they insisted she pay. I wrote to the Treasurer on her behalf, with her evidence that the fine had been incorrectly issued, and it was finally withdrawn.

Put you in touch with the right service
We received a call from a resident whose mum needed transport to Mona Vale hospital three days a week for dialysis. We were able to pass on the details of Warringah Link and now for no cost at all the volunteers pick her mum up from the hospital every Monday and transport her home. She said the volunteers are wonderful.

Argue for more resources
The secretary of Manly Vale Football Club asked if I would support their application for funding to upgrade the amenities block and lighting at David Thomas Reserve. There was only three days before the deadline for the grant so we arranged a letter quickly as the upgrade is badly needed. Although it’s not confirmed, Council has approved the work so the Club remains quietly optimistic!
