Manly MP Running For Kids
Thursday, 27 August 2009

TEAM Royal Far West is warming up for the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival with Member for Manly Mike Baird among the keen runners.

Mr Baird will compete in the 9km Sunday Telegraph body+soul Bridge Run in support of the charity which ensures country kids have access to specialist health services.

Royal Far West CEO Jann Kingston said the charity was delighted to have Mr Baird on its team.

“Royal Far West is all about caring for country kids but we are also a proud member in the Manly community,” Ms Kingston said.

“We’re delighted to have the Member for Manly supporting us in the run. Any funds raised will help us continue the important work we do caring for country kids.”

Mr Baird urged the community to get on board and support Royal Far West.

“Royal Far West is a local icon – it has been part of our culture and something we as locals have supported since the 1920s,” Mr Baird said.

“I’m honoured to be able to do my bit and run 9km to support the organisation. Obviously, I’m hoping my supporters will get behind me and help Royal Far West by sponsoring me and the rest of the Royal Far West team participating in the run.

The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is on Sunday September 20, 2009 and up to 28,000 people are expected to take part this year.

The 2009 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival aims to raise more than $2 million for charity.
