Have Your Say on our Economic Future

Monday 2 March - The Northern Beaches community is being encouraged to have its say on what needs to be done to improve the local economy.

“We are facing some major economic challenges. How we respond to these challenges and what policies are adopted will be very important in shaping the future of our local businesses, employment opportunities and the economic prosperity of the Northern Beaches,” Shadow Treasurer and Member for Manly, Mike Baird said.

“For this reason, I am inviting the community to put their views in a public forum as part of a series being held around the state.

“It’s time to start the change in NSW.  We can’t sit back and watch this state continue to go backwards.

“The Opposition has developed an outline for an economic and financial policy, entitled Planning for Prosperity.

“It sets key goals to make NSW the leading state in delivering sustainable growth, the leading state in creating jobs and economic security for families.

“What we need is the input from the community about how we turn those goals into tangible outcomes that make a real difference so we can make this state and specifically the Northern Beaches, a better place to live."

ECONOMIC FUTURE
ECONOMIC FUTURE NORTHERN BEACHES:
1. gain rreasonable financial support from state gov't for small manufacturers of environmentally sound energy resource machinery - keep on small scale for local market and for niche overseas markets, eg., domestic solar power, tidal energy.
2. gain rreasonable financial support from state gov't for 'knowledge' exports - keep on small scale for niche overseas markets, eg., sporting & training 'knowledge' developed/generated at the Narrabean Institute of Sport.
