The continued under performance of the NSW economy is clear evidence NSW needs to create jobs as a means of turning around the state’s economy, Shadow Treasurer Mike Baird said today, following the release of the CommSec State of the States economic rankings, which placed NSW last. "Today's CommSec report shows that under Labor NSW has gone from being the premier state, to the cellar dweller,” Mr Baird said. "This report confirms the NSW economy has fallen off a cliff under years of the NSW Labor Government's mismanagement,” he said. “Even Labor’s crack spin team will be unable to put any gloss on the facts of this report. "Whether it be economic growth, unemployment, retail trade, construction work or dwelling starts - under Labor NSW is a football field behind. "Unfortunately Labor's consistent failure has resulted in the report concluding 'NSW is anchored firmly at the bottom of the table.’ “Eric Roozendaal likes to talk about green shoots, but what we are seeing are the results of NSW Labor scorching the economy for many years. "Kristina Keneally and her incompetent NSW Labor Government do not have the plans or ideas to rebuild the NSW economy. "The NSW Liberals & Nationals want to make NSW number one again, and our first priority in doing this is to build a strong economy with lower taxes to create jobs. "Our Jobs Action Plan is a key growth driver, which targets the creation of 100,000 new jobs for NSW, by providing rebates and incentives to employ. “The CommSec report provides clear evidence that NSW is doomed to be an economic laggard unless there is a change of State Government. "The only way to make NSW number one again is to elect a NSW Liberals & Nationals Government," Mr Baird said. MEDIA: Lisa Harrington - 0406 726 880
